This Privacy Policy describes how Homestead Enterprises LLC d/b/a AppTunnel.io ("AppTunnel," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information through the AppTunnel.io website, customer portal, and associated services.
This policy covers data AppTunnel.io itself collects. It does not govern the data processed by AppTunnel software deployed on your own infrastructure. Customer-deployed AppTunnel servers operate entirely within your environment — we have no access to your users, applications, tunnels, or any data that passes through your deployment.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Contact and sales inquiries: Name, company name, work email address, estimated user count, and any message content submitted through our contact or sales forms.
- Customer account registration: Company name, billing email address, and contact information provided when creating a customer account through our portal.
- Payment information: Billing details submitted during checkout. Payment processing is handled by Square, Inc. We do not store credit card numbers or full payment card data on our servers.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Web server logs: Standard HTTP request logs including IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. Retained for up to 90 days for security and diagnostic purposes.
- License telemetry: When a customer's AppTunnel server performs its daily license validation, the request includes the license key, software version, and aggregate usage counts (number of users, tenants, and tunnels configured). No personally identifiable information about end users is transmitted. No content from tunneled connections is ever transmitted.
2.3 What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, receive, or have any access to:
- The applications, files, or data stored on your AppTunnel server
- Your end users' identities, credentials, or secrets
- Any data transmitted through AppTunnel tunnels
- Content of any database queries or application sessions
3. How We Use Your Information
- To process and fulfill license purchases and renewals
- To validate license compliance and enforce tier limits
- To provide customer account management and support
- To respond to sales inquiries and contact form submissions
- To send transactional communications related to your account (license keys, renewal notices, invoices)
- To maintain the security and integrity of our services
- To comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for behavioral advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of third-party services to operate AppTunnel.io:

Square, Inc. — Payment processing. When you complete a purchase, your payment information is submitted directly to Square's secure systems. Square's privacy policy governs how they handle payment data.

Calendly — Meeting scheduling. If you book a sales call via our Calendly link, Calendly collects your name and email address in accordance with their privacy policy.

Web hosting provider — AppTunnel.io is hosted on third-party infrastructure. Standard server-side access logs may be retained by our hosting provider in accordance with their policies.
5. Data Retention
- Customer account data is retained for the duration of the customer relationship and for up to 7 years after account closure to meet financial recordkeeping requirements.
- Contact form submissions are retained for up to 2 years.
- License telemetry records are retained for up to 2 years for audit and support purposes.
- Web server logs are retained for up to 90 days.
6. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect information we hold, including TLS encryption for all data in transit and access controls limiting who can access customer account data. Payment card data is handled entirely by Square and is never stored on our servers.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take our responsibility to protect your information seriously.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding personal information we hold about you:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention obligations.
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to certain processing activities.
- Opt-out of sale: We do not sell personal information. No opt-out is necessary.

8. Children's Privacy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify active customers by email. Continued use of our services after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
